What safety features are included on the 2019 Chevy Impala?

Lane Departure Warning

Drifting is a part of driving. All cars do it, but if you drift too much, it becomes a hazard. This available system alerts you when you unintentionally drift into the wrong lane. If your signal light does not activate and you begin to drift, you will be alerted.

This program uses radar technology to watch the road ahead of you. If a front-end collision is predicted, the system will alert the driver of the potential danger. This gives the driver a better chance to react to the hazard. If the driver cannot react in time, automatic braking is another available feature designed to prevent accidents.

Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control

This feature is a great enhancement to standard cruise control. You can set your following distance behind the car in front of you, and radar sensors will automatically adjust your speed accordingly. This greatly reduces the need for the driver to frequently brake or accelerate. Other available safety features include a rear vision camera, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring.

Active Safety vs. Passive Safety

You might be wondering what the difference between active and passive safety feature is. It’s pretty simple. Active safety features are meant to prevent collisions and accidents from happening. Lane departure warning and forward collision warning are two examples of active safety features. Passive safety features, meanwhile, are meant to mitigate the damage of a crash that does occur. These include airbags and safety cages.
