Depending on who you ask, a vehicle’s fuel economy is its most important aspect. That also depends on the type of vehicle in question. For the Ford Edge, a mid-size crossover SUV, fuel efficiency is certainly near the top of the priority list. Who wouldn’t love a stylish, spacious SUV that is also notably good on gas? How efficient is the 2019 Ford Edge?

The Ford Edge is currently one of the most popular SUVs on the market due to its sleek design, many interior features, affordability, and its efficient nature. Drivers of the base model will average up to 29 highway mpg, 22 city mpg, and 25 combined mpg. Fuel economy numbers are always subjective and may not be the same for all drivers. These mpg numbers are more than respectable and Edge drivers will find themselves saving some money at the gas pumps. When equipped with the V-6 engine option, the SUV’s fuel economy takes a hit. V-6 drivers can average up to 26 highway mpg, 19 city mpg, and 21 combined mpg.

We might as well go over the engine specs while we’re here. The base and most efficient engine option is a 250-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder motor. The top-of-the-line ST trim level comes with 335-horsepower, 2.7-liter V-6 engine. The added strength and potency of the V-6 certainly offers a new thrill on the roads, but drivers should beware of the impact it has on the vehicle’s efficiency.
