What engine comes on the 2019 Chevy Impala? 

The answer to that question only depends on your preference. The base (LS) and LT trim levels come with two engine options. The base option is a 197-horsepower, 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine. Not bad, right? Well, shoppers can also upgrade to a 305-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine. How’s that for potency? This engine is the only available option on the top-of-the-line Premier trim level. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and all trim levels come with front-wheel drive. Whichever engine you select, you will have a blast cruising down the highway. But what about efficiency?

You might be thinking that the former engine option is more efficient than the latter. You would be correct. The smaller, I-4 engine will give you better gas mileage than the V-6. I-4 drivers can average up to 29 highway mpg, 22 city mpg, and 25 combined mpg. If you opt for the extra engine power, your fuel economy will take a small hit. Drivers of the V-6 engine will averages up to 28 highway mpg, 19 city mpg, and 22 combined mpg.
