All-New 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Performance

When Cadillac revealed its first-ever all-electric crossover SUV, namely, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq, last year, we were amused by its name. You don’t expect the electrified SUV to be all that mighty and powerful with a name like that. However, that seems to be far from the truth. Keep reading this blog post from Eric von Schledorn Auto Group in Milwaukee, WI, to find out how powerful the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will be.

2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition

So far, Cadillac has only revealed details of the base rear-wheel-drive 2023 Lyriq, aka the Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition, which will go on sale first. This model will be powered by a single electric motor that makes 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, which is still pretty impressive. The 2023 Lyric Debut Edition will be powered by a 100-kWh battery pack and offer an EPA-estimated 312 miles of electric range.

However, if you crave more power and performance, the luxury automaker has revealed details on an all-wheel-drive (AWD) version of the 2023 Lyriq during an Instagram Q&A session. It seems the dual-motor 2023 Cadillac Lyriq AWD model will enter production before the end of this year. But what’s great about it is that it will produce an estimated 500 electric horsepower which puts it in the same league as the other EV SUV competitors, including the 469-hp Audi e-Tron S, the 480-hp 2022 Ford Mach-E GT, and the 516-hp 2022 BMW iX xDrive50.

Cadillac did not mention the torque figures for the AWD Lyriq. However, it did reveal that the all-wheel-drive, all-electric crossover will be able to tow 3,500 pounds.

Rumors suggest that the same 100-kWh battery pack will power the Lyriq AWD, but the more powerful dual-motor powertrain means the latter will offer a slightly lower range.
