Back in the 2017 model year, Cadillac was continuing its new alphanumeric naming scheme when it replaced the SRX with the XT5, which joined the only other model following the new format at the time, the CT6. A few years later, the 2021 Cadillac XT5 continues to be an outstanding option in the compact luxury crossover segment. While there are many different aspects of the vehicle that have helped lead to this, its outstanding performance is certainly near the top of the list. We thought we’d highlight those specs for you here in case you were interested in one for yourself here in Milwaukee, WI.

Powertrain Options

There are two different powertrain options to choose from, depending on which trim level you decide. The standard engine is a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder option which comes on the Luxury or Premium Luxury trim levels. This engine is capable of generating 235 horsepower alongside 258 pound-feet of torque, while achieving 22 miles per gallon through the city and 29 mpg on the highway, for a combined fuel economy rating of 24 mpg.

The second option, which is available on the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels, is a 3.6L V6 engine. This engine gets a pretty substantial boost in power, up to 310 hp alongside 271 lb-ft. of torque. This does, unfortunately, drop the fuel efficiency down a bit to 18/26/21 mpg, respectively. These figures might be slightly different depending on which drivetrain you opt for, front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Performance Features

The Cadillac XT5 is packed full of great features, some of which further enhance performance. For example, the Driver Mode Selector is a great feature that automatically adjusts certain vehicle settings based on the type of driving you’re doing or the driving conditions, such as Sport or Snow-Ice. Additional features include Cassis Damping Control and a 9-speed Electronic Precision Shift automatic transmission.
