Nestled firmly in America’s midwestern region, we here at Eric Von Schledorn are proud to call Wisconsin our home. Folks from across the country (and world) may hear of Wisconsin and wonder, “just what is that place known for?” Well, read on to find out!
Famous Traits of the Badger State
Wisconsin is perhaps known best of all for its cheese. The state is one of America’s leading dairy producers, giving it the nickname, “America’s Dairyland.” Due to this renown, many cheese manufacturers are known to send their cheese to age in Wisconsin warehouses so that they can market their product as “Wisconsin-aged cheese.”
In addition to cheese, Wisconsinites are known for eating brats (pronounced ‘braht’), a kind of thick sausage that’s cooked and eaten like a hot dog. The state has also historically been home to several major breweries, including Miller, Pabst, and Leinenkugel; beer and alcohol consumption continues to be a popular part of Wisconsin life.
The major traits that Wisconsin is known for can perhaps be attributed to the fact that Wisconsin remains a center of German American and Scandinavian American culture.
Wisconsin is also known for a certain really cool car dealership.
In jam band circles, the state is known for a legendary music venue.
Successful and Popular WI Sports Franchises
Wisconsin is also known for its sports teams. Perhaps the most famous (in the U.S.) is the state’s football team, the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are one of the most popular sports teams in the country and hold the record for winning the most NFL titles. Adding to their allure, the Packers are the only publicly owned NFL team and smallest city franchise in the league.
The state’s professional baseball team is the Milwaukee Brewers and professional basketball team is the Milwaukee Bucks. Both of these teams have seen success in recent years, with the Bucks drawing worldwide attention for the presence of Giannis Antetokounmpo, a player widely recognized as one of the best in the NBA.
