What We Know About Ford’s Electric Transit Commercial Van 

When you hear the term “electric vehicle” you may think of a brand like Tesla, or maybe even a hybrid model like a Toyota Prius. But soon, Ford will be the name you’ll think of when you hear that term, as the brand with the blue oval is leading the charge in delivering electric vehicle capability to a more diverse range of vehicles than ever before. 

Previously, Ford announced that electric capability would be brought to the Mustang, in the form of the Mustang Mach-E, and an all-electric F-150 pickup truck. For those who need an electric vehicle for their small business, however, Ford is now offering a solution in the form of an electric Ford Transit. 

Electric Ford Transit Release Date 

That’s the good news. There is some bad news, however, and we’re referring to the fact that it could be a while before you’ll be able to get behind the wheel. 

This all-electric model will release to the United States and Canada sometime in the 2022 model year. For those who don’t know, we are currently in the 2020 model year, so have to get through this model year and then the next before we can experience the electric Transit for ourselves. 

Electric 2022 Transit Features 

Other information is limited right now. There is no doubt Ford will keep us updated will new info as time goes on, but for now, we do have some insight into some of the Transit’s features. 

The Transit will be able to monitor driver behavior and offer insights for performance. It will utilize 4G LTE Wi-Fi that can handle connection from up to 10 devices. If you have a fleet of drivers, supervisors on your team can us Ford Data Services to track vehicle locations, set geofencing limits and monitor diagnostics to handle vehicle service needs.
