Now that November is upon us, and Thanksgiving is officially on the calendar, you are already asking yourself if it is too early to start stringing lights from you’re your soffit and putting up the rest of the Christmas decor.  The season’s old question has been met with many differing answers, and varies regionally, but here in the Midwest and more specifically Wisconsin, our weather will dictate the appropriate time to decorate your house for Christmas.  With all due respect to Thanksgiving, and not to step on its toes, but as soon as November 1st arrives it is appropriate to begin Christmas decorating.  However, it is best practice not to wait until after the winter weather arrives.  If you are all amped up for Christmas already and want to deck your halls with bows of holly, it’s not yet time to tinsel up the tree.

Is it Too Early to have Christmas Decorations up?

It is commonly accepted that having Christmas decorations up before Thanksgiving is over is slightly faux pas.  Even though your amount of Thanksgiving decorations are sparse compared to the mountains of Christmas stuff you have stored in the basement.  It is fine to have your homes exterior adorned with lights, snowmen and candy canes, but the inside needs to wait until turkey dinner is done.  Once the leftovers have hit the refrigerator, you are free to start saturating your house with everything green and red.
